Jasey Visited Today

Mommy Kelley had hair time today, so Jasey came to keep Grammy company.  I made a few shots of her around the house and outside.  She is such a bundle of energy....and LOVE!!!

The Sweetest Gift

I haven't posted in a while - life is too busy most days to really enjoy it....and I think that needs to change for all of us - not just me.  Jasey is half way between 17 and 18 months old and she is just what everyone needs to bring sunshine brightly into their life.  I loved my girls so much - and in some ways I laugh when I think back to the time I was pregnant with Kelley and I wondered if I could love her as much as I did my first born, Wendy.  Love grows in our hearts - and there is plenty of love for all.  Jasey has arrived at a time in my life when it is special to have new birth and vitality.  I am fortunate to get to spend quality time with her - as she and Kelley live close by.  She has been the child that my husband, Mark, never had.  I hope the ability to read this blog still exists when she is at an age she can appreciate what I have written about her.  This little red-head has won my heart, my soul and my spirit.  Sharing a few updated pictures of her.  She walks , talks, runs, plays, is opinionated, has a temper/strong will and she's 100 percent all American little girl.  Thank you Lord, for this blessing in my life.

Here she is with Mason, the Yorkie man who rules our house and doesn't know he is a dog.  For the most part he is tolerant of her - but jealous and now not so sure of where/which way she is moving next.

A few weeks back, Mark and I took Jasey to the Burlington City Park to ride the Denzel Carousel that I rode as a child, plus some of the other rides there - a train (replacement of the one I rode).  75 cents can buy you a lot of pleasure....even in 2010.  Jasey loved it until she realized her "cat" went up and down - then she wasn't so sure about it.  She's an action girl - but this was some new movement for her.

Just a BELLY LAUGH

There are some moments that just take my breath away - this is one of them.

Sunday Fun

Boy,  I wish I could still sit like this!   I LOVE YOU JASEY!

You love the ELMO WANTS TO BE A CHICKEN song and here you are with your hands in your armpits, flapping away.

You never cease to amaze me - you have many faces and you are a most curious little girl.    You go to church with us most Sundays and so you are always having fun before we get ready.

Thinking about Jasey's First Home

It dawned on me one day that there would come a time when Jasey will become curious about where she lived at birth and try to visualize  what her early days must have been like.  I rode by that house and made a picture - which I will post later.  This is the house that she lived in with her mommy and daddy the first months of her life - until the world shifted and the family that should have been, ceased to be.  At 59, alot of water has traveled under my bridge - there are many decisions we make in our younger days that impact those we love for the rest of their lives.  It saddens me, that vows made before God, friends and family are tossed aside so quickly; but the little lives are left to figure out for themselves, where their self worth might lie, is what saddens me even more.  Jasey - you are so loved.  Don't ever doubt that.
Here's your first house on Meadowbrook Drive in Burlington, NC - a brick ranch.  In this photo, we are walking to the mailbox on Banks Street.

Pizza Please

I can smell it, but can't quite see it.  Come on Paw Paw Mark, please!

As life would have it, we are fortunate to be able to spend time with Jasey - and she enjoys her visits with us just as much as we do with her.  She is very curious about food.  Check these out.    As of this writing she is officially 15 months and 3 days old.  I can't describe just how much joy she has brought into our lives.  Things have been really rough - and we have learned to let go and trust that God will provide for our needs. As adults, we are but a total of our life's experiences, and maybe if we don't ever know different, we can't be called out for our shortcomings...but  I will never understand how it is that people do not fall so madly in love with their own flesh and blood that, hell or high waters could not keep them away; yet it happens.  We are all doing the very best that we know to do in our heart or hearts.  I am thankful that I had two wonderfully  supportive parents!

A few snapshots!!

Somebody is NOT happy here, but do you ever have some beautiful BLUE eyes.

This is your INQUISITIVE look!!

I LOVE MY MOMMY!!!!

May 29, 2009 - July 14, 2009

You spent the night last night, we had so much fun.  Aunt Wendy came to hold you.  This morning you were in your care seat bucket and Mason got in it and grabbed your pacifier out of your mouth and took off running.  You have these little buzz toys and we pull the string outo and put it on your belly - you just smile and laugh.

Love you Jasey!

June 7, 2009

You have been to Grammy and Paw's house several times this past week.  You stayed all night and a couple of afternoons.  We love you so much.  You are such a wonderful treasure.

May 2009

Dear Jasey

You, your mommy and daddy went to Beaufort on Vacation.  Me, Paw Mark and Wendy missed you so much while you were there.  You had fun though.  You went to the acquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, your daddy bought you a stuffed sea turtle.  You were gone for almost a week.  When you came home, I picked you up so that Paw Mark, Wendy and I could ee you.  We walked you in your stroller and took Mason.  You loved that.  You have begun to smile this week.  Tomorrow Aunt Kay is coming to visit and celebrate her birthday.  We will have fun - you are coming to visit us.

June 21, 2009

Dear Jasey
Your mommy had a throat infection, so you spent several days and nights with us.  You have such a wonderful smile, are pleasant natured and I couldn't love you any more.

July 14, 2009

Little Jasey - you are growing more every day.  The JOY in my life.  We are able to keep you oftenand get to know you.  You are smiling and cooing at us.  You are almost able to sit up.

Your Update

You spend about one night a week with me and Paw Mark.  Wendy always visits those nights.  You are so loved.  We take you on long walks with your st roller.

You have visited Aunt Wendy twice at the library.  You have also visited our neighbors, Ms. Ruth and Ms. Alice.  They enjoy you too - you are a sweet baby.

I make pictures each time you are here.  I have bought the stuff to start you a scrapbook of your memories.  We love you Baby Jasey!

Mason didn't like you much the first overnight visit, but the second night, when I pulled up and got your bucket out of the car, he turned around and got back on the couch.  (He's jealous).  The third time I ran wathwater and bathed YOU instead of HIM, he decided you were okay after all - you saved him from taking a bath.

You are wrapped up like a baby papoos to sleep - you like it and it keeps you from flailing your arms about and waking yourself up.

You're Home

Dear Jasey,

I visit with you as often as I can and am able to stay with you some while mommy sleeps.  You are such a good baby.  I'm so thankful to have you in our lives.

Your mommy has an emergency gallbladder surgery when you are one month old.  She has gotten really sick twice during the week, and called to  ask me to keep you.  She realizes that she was having an attack likely the day she had you.  It is Easter weekend and I take you to your Turner relatives so that they can see you for the first time (Aunt Diane and Aunt Bug).  Maw Maw and your Grandpaw Chip haven't seen you except under the lights at the hospital.  They are awed by you.  You have your Grandpaw Chip's "square knees".

While You Are Still In the Hospital

I came to visit you at the hospital with your mom.  We sit and marvel at how PERFECT you are.  It is  joy to have you do nothing more but lay in our arms.  6 pounds 12 ounches of sweet baby.  You have parts from us all.  It is a special nursery because you are here early.  Your little hands and feet have things connected to them to monitor you.  You also have yellow jaundice so you must stay under the lights for a while.

We visit you for one week, and the doctor says you can come home.  Your mommy and daddy stop by our house on the way home.  It is your first visit to our house baby girl.  Mason wasn't sure WHAT you are.   I love you sooooooo..... much!

March 12, 2009 You Were Born Today

My Dearest Jasey
I have written this by hand in a journal, but find that I cannot keep up with entries the way that I would like.  The neuropathy in my hands make my writing difficult to read at times, so I am going to try and enter the entries in this blog.

You were born today - one of God's greatest gifts to me and to all of us who have waited months for your arrival.  I had the honor of being with your mommy and daddy in the hospital birthing room.  You are so beatiful - and you are so loved.  Your mommy did a great job with the labor and your daddy was right there supporting her efforts.

You are four weeks early - and you had a little trouble breathing so you will stay in the special care nursery for a while.  They need to watch mommy's headache meds also to make sure they are out of your system.  You were hooked up to lots of things the first few days and your mommy doesn't like to look at those pictres, so I'm choosing one where she is holding you.  You have a head full of hair sweet baby!!!

I hope to write in this journal often and someday you fill find, read and cherist these memories as I have cherished you.  You carry me back to days when Wendy and Kelley were little - the times of endless things to do but oh such joy.  It seems like yesterday, but is has been  a very long time.

Jasey is growing so quickly

I've had the best time with this wonderful little girl.  She now has an opinion about everything.  She is very quick to catch on to things.  She can say several words and seems to understand what is said to her.  I will never understand how anyone can walk away from their children's lives.  Thank you Jasey for making Grammy Sue's older years so wonderful!

FRONT PORCH SUN - March 2010

Jasey LOVES the outside - she gets that from Grammy Sue.  We walk around the yard and check out our flowers and the buds in the trees.  Here, Paw Paw Mark and Jasey are enjoying some sunshine in the swing.

Paw Paw Mark Dances With Me

Paw Paw Mark never had any children of his own and it's a shame - he would have made a wonderful father.  He gets in the floor on Jasey's level and plays with her - crawls around on his knees throughout the house.  Here they are dancing.  Jasey loves her some Paw Paw Mark.  I'm thankful for this - a little girls needs a good male role model in her life.  Jasy is lucky to have Paw Paw Mark and Grandfather Chip living so close by.  She is showered with love!

Dr. Kemp says brush your teeth! - March 2010

This kid loves water - and she loves brushing her teeth!   A little wrist action into things too!
Mason (Yorkie) will sit beside the tub and stand guard while she takes her bath.  There are no men allowed in the bathroom when the ladies are naked!!!

2010 Easter Egg Hunt - Cedar Rock Park

On a cold, cold morning in March, Jasey, Kelley, Wendy, Mark and I went to Cedar Rock Park to the annual Easter egg hunt.  Jasey knew what to do with the eggs and she had fun.  We ate funnel cake and drank hot chocolate.  Kelley carried Jasey to have her picture made with the Easter Bunny at the Mall - Jasey wasn't sure about it, but she didn't cry.    HERE COMES PETER COTTONTAIL!

Jasey turns "1"

I hope to go back and enter the past year with pictures of this wonderful little girl.  She has been a blessing in our lives and has given us a new outlook on the daily routine.  Parents should enjoy their children when they are young, for quickly they grow up and move on - this is but a chapter in your life story - enjoy and savor every moment.

She turned "1" in March and we celebrated with a gathering at Graham Friends Church Fellowship Hall with around 20 family / friends attending.  She loved the party.  Her theme was a Princess and she had a crown and a tutu that she wore throughout the party.  Aunt Bug had made her birthday cake(s) and the one for her, she really liked.  She was hesitant at first to eat - she kept looking at her mommy to make sure it was okay, but once she tasted that icing - it was all over.  She was cramming in the cake with both her little hands.

Happy Birthday Jasey!   I LOVE YOU!!!

Grammy Sue

At the age of 58, I finally became a first time grandmother. I am thankful for the opportunities God has afforded me to share my life and time with a wonderful little girl named Jasey. My husband and I so enjoy the even mundane tasks when she is included. Her little smile lights up any dreary day and there is nothing that makes a day better than her sunshine!
